RISE-Ghana is a Ghanaian local Human Rights, Governance and Environment Non Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in Ghana, West Africa with its Head Quarters in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The organization was founded by a group of young environment and human rights Activists in 2009 and officially registered in 2011. The Founders were motivated by the widespread poverty and inequality, environmental degradation, ineffective development approaches and poor accountability and responsiveness on the part of state and non state actors.
Desirous of influencing change, they decided to champion human rights and environmental sustainability approaches. This eventually led to the starting RISE-Ghana which has grown into a national NGO advocating and championing issues of disability and inclusive development, sustainable environment, human rights and governance.
We are guided by the human rights based principles of Participation, Accountability, Non-discrimination, Empowerment and Linkage to human rights standards in our work.
